Some of Donegal's back roads have been left like "a bomb site" according to one farming spokesman.
Donegal IFA Vice-chairman, PJ McMonagle, said they had received a number of complaints about the state of some roads and that the farm group would raise the issue with Donegal County Council officials when they meet in the coming weeks.
IFA County Development, Davey Keith, said one farmer contacted him when a potato lorry was unable to get to his farm due to the road being impassable.
He added that man was keen fix the road himself if he was granted permission by the local authority.
Mr McMonagle also urged farmers to check for burst pipes on their lands, especially since water metering is now in place.
“Check your meters,” he told members, adding “there could be a lot more water used than you think.”
The IFA have been involved in a long running dispute with Donegal County Council over water charges payments. Currently the farm body are advising members to pay a volumetric charge for what they use but not to pay a fixed penalty charge associated with the meters usage until a resolution can be agreed.
