The staff, pupils and parents of Wood School in Ardara were celebrating the granting of their second Green Flag this week.
The school got its first Green Flag two years ago, for its work in the area of recycling, and this second flag, for the conservation of energy will last two years, before the school pushes for its third.
Wood School has sixteen pupils and all of them were involved in what their teacher, Laraine Long, described as a very concerted effort to secure their second flag.
“We had great help, interest and involvement from the pupils, the parents, the Board of Management and the staff in getting this Green Flag. Also, my colleague, Claudia McGinley, worked her heart out with the entire project and we are very happy with our achievement,” said Laraine Long this week.
The small school will now be working towards its third Green Flag over the next two years and with the same level of interest and involvement from all concerned they will, no doubt, also be successful in that quest.
