Acclaimed Dublin singer-songwriter Damien Dempsey is set to bring his unique brand of music to Donegal this week.

Dempsey, who has supported the likes of Sinead O'Connor and Morrissey on tour, plays the Balor Theatre, Ballybofey on Thursday October 11 and McGrory's, Culdaff two nights later on Saturday October 13.

The former boxer from Donaghmede in Dublin'
s Northside released his
fourth studio album last June, To Hell or Barbados, to confirm his status as one of Ireland's great contemporary singer-songwriters.

Dempsey's second album, Seize the Day, released in May 2003 entered the charts at No. 5. It has since achieved double-platinum sales figures.
During 2004 Damien toured extensively headlining his own shows as well as supporting Bob Dylan during the Irish leg of his European tour and making his debut appearances at The Fleadh and Womad.

His third album, Shots, simultaneously released in Ireland and the UK in March 2005, entered the Irish album charts at No. 1 and achieved platinum status in December 2005. The album was also released in the U.S. on United for Opportunity Records as Dempsey undertook a coast to coast tour.

For the second year in a row Damien won Best Irish Male at the 2007 Meteor Music Awards.

Dempsey's earliest musical influences were the post-pub singsongs that his parents used to have at their home when he was a toddler. Today his unique sound reflects the influence of traditional Sean-N"s as well as his musical heroes, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley.
Dempsey returns to the North-West next month to play Derry's Nerve Centre on Sunday November 4.
