Carrick Vocational School completed the grand slam of Donegal Schools championship titles when they defeated St. Columba's College in the U-16 final in Ballyshannon on Friday afternoon.
With the U-14 and senior crowns already in the trophy cabinet, they added the U-16 crown to rewrite the history books.
While it is a little unclear whether or not it has been done before by any school in the county, the one thing for sure it is a first for Carrick Vocational School.
On what was a dark week for the closely knit communities of Kilcar and Glencolumbkille, the sun shone brightly over Pairc Aodh Ruadh and on the boys from Carrick.
They led by six points at half time, 2-8 to 1-5, thanks to goals from Matthew McClean and Aidan McGinley, and points from Patrick McBrearty (5), McClean (2) and Francis J. McGinley as they took full advantage of the incline.
McClean fired home the first three pointer on 21 minutes while McGinley bagged the second two minutes later.
Points from Rory Dunleavy (2), Ryan Kettle and Peter Blake and a goal and a point from substitute Dillon White kept St. Columba's in touch.
White's goal on 25 minutes gave the Stranorlar boys a degree of hope after being hit with the two goal barrage and brought them back into the contest having been from 2-5 to 0-3 down.
With most of the better football played in the first half the two sides struggled particularly in their strike rate in the second period.
Points from Calvin Bradley and Ryan Kettle for St. Columba's reduced the margin to four points in the third quarter, Carrick always had the look of winners about them.
And when Aidan McGinley banged home his second and Carrick's third goal ten minutes from the end the blue and red ribbons were on the trophy.
McClean wrapped up the scoring six minutes from the end to put an even better gloss on the scoreline and the historians sharpened their pencils.

McGinley (0-1). Subs: Martin Byrne for J. Shovlin inj.(9 mins.); Darragh O'Gara for R. McGinley (57mins.); Kevin Gallagher for H. Doherty (58 mins.).

Subs: Dillon White (1-1) for C.Ward (21 mins); Conor Browne for G. Kelly (41 mins); Ronan Gallen for R. Donlon (58 mins.).
Referee: John McGlanaghy (Four Masters).
Man of the Match
Matthew McClean scored 1-4, with all but one of his points from play and he just shaded two goal hero Aidan McGinley for the game's leading scorer.
Right throughout he was menacing, proved a real handful for the St. Columba's defence any time the ball went up his wing.
He receives the nod ahead of Patrick McBrearty, who posted five points, Kevin McNern, Ciaran O Donnell, Stephen Jones and Ryan McHugh all Carrick.
Andrew McCloskey, Emmett Patterson, Calvin Bradley, Rory Dunleavy, Ryan Kettle and Dillon White and Peter Blake all played well for St. Columba's.
Turning Point
While Matthew McClean's goal for Carrick opened up daylight between the sides for the first time as Carrick went five up - Aidan McGinley's first time strike for Carrick's second goal swung the pendulum in a big way in favour of the boys from the south-west.
Ref Watch
Four Masters official John McGlanaghy let the game flow and had very few of his decisions questioned and overall had a good game. In fairness to both sides the game was played in a sporting manner.
Next for Carrick
Carrick now play Claudy from Derry, next week (possibly Thursday) in the first round of the Ulster Schools U-16.
